FYLDE U’8s
There was a great turnout of 22 boys for the Under 8s game at Vale of Lune on Sunday, 13th Nov. The sun was shining for the boys and both sides played with lots of energy and enthusiasm. The boys are really getting into the game now, understanding the rules and playing with confidence. Well done boys!

FYLDE U’12s
Fylde U12s v Leigh, 24th October at the Woodlands
Despite the holidays impacting availability for both teams, Leigh were able to bring a strong squad to visit the Fylde U12’s at the Woodlands. The weather was good and conditions just right for a good display of Juniors rugby. Fylde had sufficient numbers for two teams so plenty of action for parents and spectators!
Leigh started well and it was clear straight away that they were a strong side that intended to make an impression. Their tackling was good and the formation well drilled. Fylde were a bit slow to start but soon got in their flow with some lovely smooth passing and linkages between the rucks and the outer runners. But the Leigh team were dominant, despite a high quantity of high tackles, and deserved their success against the Fylde squad. Special note should go to Seb Clarke for a superb interception try towards the end of the game.
There was a brief time for a rest and the second Fylde squad then faced the now well warmed up Leigh team. A strong start from Fylde meant a very even battle to begin with. Good defence from both teams, so great running and positional play too. Leigh were again stronger in their formation and were very good at counter rucking. But the Fylde fire was always present and special mention to Tevita for his energy in the tackles and break throughs which were rewarded with a try. But in the end Leigh maintained their ascendancy and came out on top, just.
Overall a great display of rugby and special thanks to Alan Holmes for referring a tough game. Plenty for Fylde to be proud of and everyone will look forward to the rematch later in the season.
