The 1st XV did well in a tough exchange with Luctonians. But it’s the Saracens who take the prize for this weekend’s greatest Club achievement. They travelled to NOWIRUL Division Two (North) clear league leaders Rochdale 2nds who had lost only two league games all season. Sarries were in 6th place before the game.

With considerably greater squad stability than has been possible in recent seasons, the team has been putting in much better performances of late. Their squad was:

APPLEYARD (C), DURRANT, JOLIFFE, WILLIAMS, JOHNSON, WEBSTER, BAIRSTOW, DAWES, KING R, KING J, TAYLOR J, CARTMELL C, WOOD-WARING, CADLEY, MILLS, JACOBS, WORSNIP, BUTTERWORTH.

Sarries scored tries by Christian Willams and Nathan Johnson, both converted by Theo Butterworth, and they took the game by 7-14.

This lifts them to 5th place in the division and sets them up for their final three league games plus, most importantly, their NOWIRUL Trophy Final against ‘Hoppers at Vale of Lune’s ground on 7th May.

Very well done Sarries!
