In an interesting reflection on Fylde’s 2021-22 season in National Two (North), it is noticeable that coaches Chris Briers, Alex Loney and Aled Trenhaile have used fewer players in the 30 matches than for numerous years. 31 players have featured during the campaign, fewer than virtually all the 16 clubs in the division.
More remarkable is that 15 players made their debut appearance for the 1st XV.
Zach Barrow
Joe Bedlow
Tane Bentley
Marcus Blake
Corey Bowker
Alex Clayton
Sam Fisher
Joe Higgins
Ethan Hulme
Scott Jordan
Sam Kyle-Clay
Sam Parker
Charlie Partington
Matt Sturgess
Ben Turner
Of these, 13 played their first ever matches in the National Leagues. This was a significant mark of faith by the coaches in the ability of these young players to step up to this level of semi-professional rugby. And the talented players justified this confidence as they adjusted to National Two (North) convincingly.
Well done everyone!
