Fylde RFC is delighted to announce that Joint Head Coaches Chris Briers and Alex Loney have committed themselves to the Club until the end of the 2024-25 season. The two former professional players who finished their playing careers at Fylde took up this joint role ahead of the 2021-22 season and continued in 2022-23 when their squad finished as runners-up in National League Two (North).

Mark Nelson (Senior Rugby Consultant & Acting Chair of Rugby) said: “It is great news that our joint coaches have agreed to stay with the club with a two year extension to their contracts. They have worked together superbly well and forged a group of talented players into one of the most exciting and progressive sides in National League Rugby. At Fylde we look long term and have the ambition to challenge to play at the highest level we can. This continuity of coaching is a real statement of intent by both the club and Chris and Alex showing that we mean business and we are very much a ‘go to’ club for ambitious players to receive high quality development in a rugby creative environment.

“From a personal point of view, I have coached them both as players for club and county and it is brilliant to see their transition into coaching going so well and I’m delighted that they will keep plying their trade here at the Woodlands. “
