Fylde RFC is very sad to report the death of 90 years old Life Member & long time stalwart of the Gates Committee, Bryan Pinnell.
Bryan was born in South Wales in 1933 and joined the RAF as an Aircraft Engineer in the 1950s. After a number of years in the Services he joined the aircraft industry in Lancashire.
He played rugby as a young man in the Welsh valleys and maintained his passion for the sport, especially Welsh rugby, right through his life. He travelled around England following Fylde on the famous ‘Taps Trips’ in the 1990s and even made the British Lions tour to Australia in 2001 with friends from Fylde and Kendal RFC.
Bryan was the step-father of Mike Bickerstaff and that family relationship deepened his connection to the Club. He was much loved and respected, a truly nice man who will be sorely missed. Everyone at Fylde sends their sincere commiserations to Mike, Liz and the rest of his family and friends.
There will be minute’s silence ahead of today’s game between Fylde and Billingham.
