Fylde is delighted to announce the recruitment of two excellent young backs to their 2024-25 1st XV squad, Lewis Kincart and Owen Fisher.

LEWIS KINCART

Scrum-half Lewis Kincart joins from Blackburn RUFC. His father took him to play at Kirkby Lonsdale when he was seven years old and he played 11 seasons there and one at Kendal when he was 14. He also played at his local secondary school, Kirkby Kendal. During this period he made Cumbria county squads, XL performance squads and got a trial with Newcastle Falcons.

23 years old Lewis explained his main influences on his rugby development. “Firstly, definitely my dad; he ferried me and my mates all over the north of England to games & training. He coached us from under 9s until under 16s. I could probably count the games he’s missed on one hand. And Sam Mason – our youth head coach at Kirkby Lonsdale. He held us together as a team for the best part of 10 years. His constant effort and dedication helped turn us into a really good team.”

Lewis has played National League and Regional Premier League senior rugby for Kendal, Wharfedale and most recently Blackburn. He elaborated: “My first year of senior rugby was at Kendal in 2019-20. I managed to break into the 1st XV just before Christmas and played every game from then on until the season was cut short by Covid. I started the 2021-22 season at Wharfedale, making a handful of appearances for them before returning to Kendal. I began the 2022-23 campaign at Kendal before moving to Blackburn a quarter of the way into the season and I played there up until the end of last season.”

Whilst primarily a scrum-half, he also played in the back three for Kendal.

“I made the link with Fylde initially through my brother Robbie who played at the Club last season. Briersy was asking him about me for a while before I went and had a chat with him and Loney at the back end of last season.

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to play at Fylde, I used to play against them at age groups for Kirkby Lonsdale and watched them play against Kendal in National League 2 (North). I have always admired the club, the set up and the fans. It feels like we’ve got a good young group of players and I’m excited to be a part of that.”

OWEN FISHER

Owen started playing rugby at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic High School and Wigan RUFC. He played for Wigan Warriors Scholars and Sale Sharks Academy. He then moved to Kirkham Grammar School where he represented their 1st XV squad for his entire time there as their starting outside centre.

Owen added: “He then moved to Northumbria University where I have been representing their 1st XV as their starting number 14. During my time at university I have also represented a number of club sides in the north east like Alnwick and Ashington.

“I’d say some of the most Influential people in terms of developing me as a player would be my head coach at KGS, Alex Trenhaile, and my current coach at Northumbria university, Joe Cain. Both are amazing coaches who have given a great amount of time to oversee not only my individual development but the development of the team as a whole.

“I consider myself primarily as a winger at this point in time. However, I could see myself transitioning back to centre in due course. I made my way to Fylde initially through coming down to a pre-season a few years ago and it meant that Chris and Warren were able to stay in touch with me and reached out to me just as the Northumbria season ended, expressing their interest in me joining Fylde for the 2024-2025 season.”

A very warm welcome to both Lewis and Owen!
