This year’s Lytham Club Day Parade was an exciting spectacle, significantly enhanced by the spirited participation of over 30 young players and their dedicated coaches from Fylde RFC. The parade, a much-anticipated event in the local calendar, witnessed a surge of enthusiasm and community spirit thanks to the vibrant presence of the rugby club.
The young athletes and their coaches, proudly clad in their Fylde RFC kit, marched through the streets with infectious energy, handing out hundreds of ‘high fives’. Along the parade route, they delighted the crowds by tossing sweets to eager children, adding to the festive atmosphere.
A highlight of the parade was the rugby passing drills demonstrated by the young players. Midway through the procession, the children showcased their skills, executing precise passes and teamwork that drew applause from onlookers. These drills provided a glimpse into the dedication and talent being nurtured at Fylde RFC, impressing all who watched.
In addition to the passing drills The Fylde Fox mascot was also on hand for photo opportunities. Fylde RFC announced an exciting offer to engage the local community further. Families attending the parade were given the chance to receive free matchday tickets for the upcoming first home game of the season against local rivals Preston Grasshoppers on 14th September. This initiative aims to strengthen community ties and encourage more local support for the club’s endeavours.
Club chairman Matt Filipo expressed his pride in the young players’ participation. “It has always been about the kids on club day. Fantastic to see the club showing its presence once again. Great to see all the smiling face on the kids”
The community’s response was overwhelmingly positive. A Local resident, who attended the parade with her two children, remarked, “It’s fantastic to see the kids so enthusiastic and engaged. The passing drills were impressive, and the free matchday tickets are a wonderful gesture. We’ll definitely be there to support Fylde RFC next season!”
Mini & Junior Secretary Neil Riley commented “We are strong as a club, but when we come together as a community across age-grades it’s such a special feeling.”
