We are delighted to highlight the work of Ben Curran and his colleagues who have worked very hard to resuscitate the Club’s Senior Colts squad after a number of blank seasons. On Sunday they open their 2024-25 season in the North West Senior Colts division C with a trip to Anselmians in Birkenhead.
Ben said: “the lads have returned to training with enthusiasm and our numbers are good. League C includes home and away games against Anselmians, Crewe & Nantwich, Firwood Waterloo, Macclesfield, Sale FC and Sandbach.
“At this level and age, playing numbers are notoriously difficult to maintain, and since July two teams in our league have already folded. However, I’m positive as we have retained 35 lads in the squad, and they are a tight-knit group of responsible young men. We are taking 22 players on Sunday.
“They remain a squad of lads from multiple schools, college and work environments, and this week they are broadly drawn from those who have started formal apprenticeships, and from students now at Blackpool Sixth, Cardinal Newman, Myerscough, KGS and AKS. The skipper is prop Freddie Graham who is at Myerscough College and is being coached by Pete Altham.”
Very good luck lads – everybody in the Club are behind you!
