At half time in the National Two (North) game between Billingham and Fylde at Greenwood Road the Referee came into the changing room and brought both sets of coaches together. He said that he and his Assistant Referees considered the game was unsafe to continue due to weather conditions.
Following a discussion both Billingham and Fylde coaching groups agreed that the safety call was for the match officials to make and accepted the referees decision to abandon the game at that point because of player safety concerns which are of paramount importance to Fylde as a club.
