A Snowy Spectacle

Fylde RFC Mini Juniors Embrace the Snowman Challenge

When the weather gods decided to blanket the Fylde Coast with snow, we were forced to make the difficult decision to call off our much-anticipated Mini Juniors session on “Snowy Sunday.” However, rather than letting the day go to waste, we turned the snowy setback into a creative opportunity, challenging our young players to showcase their imagination in a snowman-building competition.

The response was nothing short of phenomenal. Over 60 imaginative snow creations were shared with us, transforming gardens and parks into winter wonderlands of frosty fun. From towering snowmen with rugby jerseys to elaborate snow sculptures inspired by Disney, the creativity and effort displayed by our Mini Juniors and their families were truly heartwarming.

After much deliberation, we are thrilled to announce that the winning entry comes from F & R Davenport! Representing our U6 and U8 teams, their snowman stood out for its originality, attention to detail, and undeniable charm. A big congratulations to the Davenports for their fantastic creation—and to everyone who participated in making this snowy day so memorable. The Davenports can collect their prize from the club shop this weekend, either on Matchday (Fylde vs Lymm) or on MJ Sunday.

This event perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Fylde RFC—community, creativity, and camaraderie. While the pitches may have been empty this Sunday, the energy and enthusiasm of our Mini Juniors ensured that the day was anything but dull.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who participated, making the best of a chilly situation. Here’s to more fun (and slightly less snowy) Sundays ahead at Fylde RFC!
