Whilst a few players are unavailable for the pre-season run-out against visitors Lymm RFC at the Woodlands (16th Aug, KO 15.00), Fylde name an interesting, mixed extended squad of 26 players. Of the provisional starting XV, four newcomers make their club debut.
Amongst the forwards, there’s a new 2nd row combination with former Billingham lock Ben Walton partnering local Garstang youngster Will Greenwood. Ben joins the Club to reunite with his brother Michael who had an outstanding first season at the Woodlands in 2024-25 but is unavailable this weekend.
In the backs, the key scrum-half berth is filled by former Rossendale young talent Gabe Maguire and he’s joined by former Welsh U20s winger/centre Leo Gilliland who has joined the Club from Stourbridge RFC following earlier experience at Leicester Tigers Academy. Both Maguire and Greenwood were outstanding contributors to the Lancashire U20s squad which won the County Championship at Twickenham against Devon in May.
Good luck to all the players involved!
