Lancashire travel to Hull Ionians’ Ground at Brantingham Park on Saturday (16th May, ko 15.00) for the second leg of their Bill Beaumont County Championship contest against Yorkshire. A trip to the Allianz Stadium Twickenham in early June is at stake for the winners who will face either Cornwall or Kent who contest the Southern semi-final.
Lancashire take a lead of 20 points to Ionians’ Ground from the first leg at Fylde last Saturday which they won by 38-18. Only the foolish would believe that such a points advantage is any kind of guarantee of reaching the Final. Their Head Coach Alex Loney and his Backs Coach Scott Rawlings are far too experienced to underestimate the capacity of the Yorkshire squad to make up lost ground in the tie.
Lancashire make one change in their starting line-up with Tom Forster named at centre. Their set of replacements welcomes Fylde forwards David Fairbrother and Michael Walton to their ranks with Sale FC’s scrum-half Matt Bradley also introduced.
We hope that good numbers of Red Rose supporters will make the journey to Ionians’ well appointed ground to cheer on the Lancashire squad.
