We are very sad to report the death of Ross Woolner who passed away peacefully at home on 16th October, aged 78.
There will be a celebration of Ross’ life at the Club this Friday (28th October) from 5pm-8pm and Ross’ family would like to invite anyone who knew Ross to join them for a drink and to share memories of Ross.
In the words of Ross “Could have done better, but you only get one chance”.
Fylde Chairman Matt Filipo knew Ross well:
“Ross was born in Dingwall Scotland. He was a great friend of legendary Fylde player Hugh Thomas. His son Callum is over from the USA where his wife and two children now live. Ross’ sister Gilly was with Ross in his final days. I personally will remember the three years I lived with Ross and Callum were the most hilarious and fun times I had before starting my own family.
“He was a friend you could trust and rely on. His word was his word and his friendship was for life. I will miss him dearly.”
Ross played for Fylde. Here he is in a team photo in the 1970s. He’s in the front row, second in from the right.
Everyone at Fylde send their sincere condolences to Ross’ family and friends
