Rugby We provide a safe, supportive, and challenging environment to develop skills, teamwork, and character, producing players respected for their dedication, integrity, and skill.
Come to the Club on a Sunday morning and you will see over 500 boys and girls aged 5 to 18 playing with as much pride and passion as the 1st XV but perhaps with a different emphasis, where enjoyment is much more important than winning.
To celebrate the Women’s World Cup 2025 and only through a very kind donation to the club, we are able to offer any girl a free membership to cover the 2025/26 season.
This item is intended to answer a number of questions regularly raised by new players, potential new players or old hands.
WHERE & WHEN?
All training is based at Fylde RFC Woodlands Memorial Ground, Blackpool Rd, Lytham Saint Annes FY8 4EL.
Mini and Youth Rugby takes place on Sundays. The Under 7s to Under 16s train and play matches in the morning. Player’s age groups are determined by their age at midnight on 31st August. Age Group can also be equated to school year with Under 16s being Year 11, Under 15s Year 10, etc.
Unless the group is playing away, for all training and club fixtures U8’s – U16’s players should be at the club by 10.15am at the latest to enable a prompt start at 10.30am. The morning session normally closes about 12.15/12.30pm, often dependent on the weather.
U6’s and U7’s age groups have different arrangements, with earlier start times, normally 9:00am.

WHAT MUST I PROVIDE?
All new players must fill in the Registration Form and once approved upload a profile picture within ‘Spond’.
Fylde registers players on the RFU Game Management System, and will register both player and parent contact information on the central database.
WHAT KIT DO I NEED?
Initially, very little! A pair of football boots is OK, but they MUST be fitted with rugby union aluminium studs, a very important safety regulation.
A mouthguard is required, coaches will insist on these being required for taking part in contact rugby. Please ensure that you bring a mouthguard to training or matches
Contact your dentist should you wish to purchase a customised, ‘made-to-measure’ version but, especially for the younger player, many parents are happy to purchase the less expensive style from the local sport shop which players mould themselves.
The club has a bespoke kit available through the club shop. Players will be required to purchase the kit to take part in matches. During the early weeks of September, it is understood that new players may have to order and wait for their kit to arrive, in this regard some leeway may be provided by the team managers and coaches during this period. However, subject to kit being available in the shop players will need Fylde kit to participate.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Anyone keen on, committed to, or just interested in rugby is welcome at Fylde.

The Youth teams (Under 13s upwards) play as boys’ teams, and although we don’t have girls teams (yet) we are keen to encourage and support girls rising through U6’s to U12’s to feed into the Lancashire RFU supported sides.
In addition, young people who would like to help in any other capacity are welcome, and there are many tasks which, as volunteers, can assist in the success of the organisation.
