Fylde Hawks, Sarries & Vandals finish their league seasons on Saturday. With the 1st XV having a rest day, attention switches to the other three senior teams.
Hawks v Hoppers 2s (5th v 6th)
The Hawks play their last Premier Division league game of the season when they entertain Preston Grasshoppers 2nds at the Woodlands on Saturday. The Hawks are in 5th place in the division, ‘Hoppers in 6th. The winners could end up in 4th and/or 5th places respectively.
Sarries v Leigh 2s (2nd v 9th)
The Saracens also play their last match of the season, in their case in Division 2 (North). They are on an amazing run of 16 consecutive victories, with their single defeat on the opening day of the season, way back in September. They are in 2nd place and have a shot at finishing as champions when they welcome Leigh 2nds to the Woodlands on Saturday. ‘Hoppers 2nds are top but have completed their fixtures. A bonus point victory against Leigh could see the Sarries as champions. Come what may, their squad deserves the greatest credit for their fine season!
Garstang Blues v the Vandals (1st v 7th)
Toughest assignment of the day faces the Vandals who travel to Garstang 2nds, already champions of Division 3 (North) with a perfect 17 wins out of 17 to date. It couldn’t be a harder task for the Vandals in their last league game of the season. The Vandals have had a difficult season, struggling for players at times during their 2022-23 campaign. However, they’ve battled through with three wins since Christmas and have climbed to 7th in the division.
Good luck to all three teams! Please get to the Woodlands to support the Hawks and Saracens on Saturday.
