As the club rugby union season is about to enter its final two months, the three Fylde senior teams face rather different challenges in March and April.
The 1st XV have 7 more National Two (North) fixtures ahead, with just three at the Woodlands including the mid-April clash with unbeaten and favourites for promotion, Leeds Tykes. Their four away matches are all in Yorkshire, starting off on Saturday with a visit to bottom of the table Huddersfield, then at Otley, Hull RUFC and, finishing off on the final day of the league season, at Sheffield Tigers.
The Hawks also have a preponderance of away matches in the NOWIRUL Premier Division with 5 of their remaining 7 fixtures away from the Woodlands. They face April with their last 4 games all away, 3 in Cheshire (Macclesfield, Chester & Lymm) and v Rossendale in East Lancashire.
The highest placed of the three Fylde teams are the Vandals who are on a run of six successive victories in NOWIRUL Division 3 (North) and sit proudly in 3rd place. They have just 5 matches remaining, three at home, two away. With a game in hand over the 2nd placed team they have a real chance to finish just behind likely champions, ‘Hoppers 4th team.
