Good things comes in threes. Fylde’s fixtures for 2004-5 were announced yesterday, the re-signing until the end of 2025-6 of Joint Head Coaches Chris Briers and Alex Loney followed on shortly afterwards and now we are delighted to confirm that David Fairbrother has re-signed for the 2024-25 National League season.
‘Fairy’ is a standout member of the squad and he has been since joining the Club in the 2014-15 season. He’s a larger than life character, much loved by our supporters (though not generally by opponents!) and he was really missed in last season’s interrupted campaign.
The 36-year-old no 8 has made 161 National League appearances and scored 39 tries for the club. A product of Fleetwood RUFC who served in the Royal Marines, Fairy has played representative rugby for the Royal Navy, Combined Services, Lancashire and England Counties.
He is an incredible character and an outstanding player, who leads from the front every time he steps onto the field.
The icing on the cake will come if Lancashire can overcome their oldest rivals Yorkshire in the Sir Bill Beaumont County Championship at Hull Ionians this afternoon! A visit to Twickenham in the Final awaits the winners.
