Fylde are delighted to announce that Toby Harrison has been appointed as 1st XV captain with David Fairbrother and Jordan Dorrington as vice-captains.
Joint Head Coaches Alex Loney & Chris Briers said: “We began by putting together a very strong and talented senior player leadership group for the season. From this group we then made the appointment of captain and vice captains.
“We are delighted that Toby has accepted the role as captain and he will be superbly supported by David and Jordan as vice-captains along with the senior players leadership group as a whole.”
Toby Harrison said: “I’m so honoured to be picked as captain for my home club this year. I feel like the squad is in a really good place. All the newcomers seemed to have settled in really well and will add a lot of strength and depth to the squad. I can’t wait to rip in this year and show everyone what we can do.”
TOBY HARRISON
Backrower Toby Harrison is a product of Fylde’s Mini-Juniors and Colts. He attended Lytham St Annes High School and progressed through the Club’s various age group teams, Colts and 2nd XV before earning a 1st XV place in the 2016-17 season. He left the Club in 2018 and moved to Preston Grasshoppers for the 2019-20 campaign, stayed two seasons and made 50 1st XV appearances for the Lightfoot Green club and also made his senior Lancashire debut.
Since re-joining Fylde for the 2022-23 campaign, he has been a first choice backrower, missing very few matches and making 43 appearances out of a possible 48. Toby has excellent ball handling skills, is an outstanding, aggressive and brave tackler at the breakdown, a powerful ball carrier and is a clear communicator at the height of the battle. He is durable, quick, reads the game well and shows excellent leadership skills. In all, he has made 63 Fylde 1st XV appearances and has scored 9 tries.
