CHESTER 2nds 34 FYLDE HAWKS 45
Fylde Hawks Coach Steve Gough reports on his side’s display at Chester RUFC.
The strength of the squad grows every week! The style of play is synonymous to Fylde and right from the off they showed a willingness to take the game to Chester. I hadn’t even got out of the changing rooms and we were under the sticks running the ball from deep and the new superstar Sebi Krippner finished off a flowing attack. A few lapses in concentration was the only blemish on the game allowing a very good Chester team to score 36 points.
The Hawks seen to score at will, as it proved throughout the game. When Chester got close we put the hammer down and kept our heads in front. Whoever puts the Hawks jersey on should expect enjoyment, excitement and a willingness to work hard for the team, these boys have brought this each week and I’m so proud of the effort. Week in week out. They deserve a rest over the next 2 weeks to recover and reenergise ready for the challenge of the new year!
Scorers:
Krippner x 4
Macauley x 2
Wright x 1
Atherton x 5 conversions
This was a top class team effort from start to finish. To finish the year off as we have is testimony to the effort and closeness of the Hawks and they are truly a strong group. At the start of the season a number of players were gently tapping in the first team door but now there’s a lot of the squad firmly banging the door down.
A special mention to both Portuguese lads (Fransisco Pissarra and Vincente Da Cunha) who have now returned to Lisbon and were a massive part of the senior squad and they will both be missed. I want to personally thank them both for taking the opportunity to come to Fylde and play a massive part of the Hawks. We wish them both well in there endeavours to gain Portuguese 20s World Cup squad.
I would like to wish all the squad and families a peaceful and happy Christmas and prosperous New Year, and a massive thanks to Jay for his constant support.
WINNERS WIN…….
